The father started to pick up starfish, one by one, and tossed them back into the sea as they walked along. The son, puzzled and not understanding why his father was doing this asked, “What difference can you make, as there are so many thousands of starfish along the beach.” The father, while holding a starfish in his hand answered: “To this one it makes a difference!”, and tossed it back into the sea!
![]() Namibia is a beautiful country on the south western side of Africa. It not only houses the beautiful Namib desert, but is also home to at least 13 different cultural groupings. The economy is small and the arid landscape struggle to sustain the less than two million residents. Namibia is also a country with high levels of poverty, incomplete families, unemployment and HIV/AIDS. This and other social ailments is breaking apart the future of Namibians. A group of people have responded to this sad and alarming situation by forming a TRUST body. The aim of the group is to uplift the orphaned, widowed and single parent households, as well as the poor. The opportunity revealing itself is to turn the present into a situation of “to that one it made a difference”. In 2007, the number of orphans in Namibia was estimated at 117 000 and an additional 11 000 children is expected to become orphans in the next year, giving us an estimated growth of 10% per annum. We believe that working together with privat partners, we will make a fast difference in the lives of those involved in withour project. |
